SLEEP.ERS

I really liked this boy, once. Not only once and not only one boy but this one was special. It was that time of my life. I saw him as: my boy. He was almost 40. In a couple of days. He believed in GOD and he believed HE was a GOD. It made sense.

“Don’t ask me how I got there. It took a lot of time, thinking and pushing things in a right direction.”

I believed him. He made sense.

We’ve met. He showed me a photo of his driver’s licence. “It’s the one with hair.” He really liked me. “I don’t know why, but I always keep my eye out for the nerdy girls.” After the night we’ve met, and talked for hours surrounded by his friends, he never asked for my number. Not a problem, he can find me easily, but days went by and he was still not ‘finding’ me, so I found him.

– “Hi, wanna go for a walk?” – “Yeah. Where are you?” – “Near the bridge.” – “Send me the location, I’ll pick you up.” – (location sent)

It was that easy. I really was near the bridge, walking. I’ve peed under the bridge, got my priorities straight and marched towards the location I have sent. He came to pick me up with his car.

-“Where are we going” – “Where do you wanna go?” -“We can just drive around.” -“Ok.”

Next thing I know, he parked the car.

-“Where are we?” -“You’ll see.”

We were in front of his house. “We can walk around my building.” and we did, then he kissed me, awkwardly, like we were kids, lift my hands with his , and started smiling. He was embarrassed.

-“You wanna come up?” – “Seriously?! Well, ok, I guess. What are we gonna do up?” – “Whatever we want.”

He smiled again, I let it pass, it was fun, we were kids in his neighbourhood, going form the park bench to his home.

When we arrived, he took of his shoes and went inside. His apartment was dark, like a den, all covered in wood, with humongous TV and a ‘martial arts’ practicing wooden wall. It was a den for a man boy. I liked it. He started staring at me intensely, then he focused on my feet. He was staring at my shoes. I got the message, I took them off.

We started talking on a couch then kissing and he undressed me completely in one creative move. Mind you, it was almost winter, I had a lot of layers on. I was laughing. It was like child’s play. I’ve told him to stop, he stopped. I had a friend to meet later on, (I have invented and organised in the next 5 minutes so that I do not linger too long near him, I did not know what to do with my hands, nor my brain). “I’ll drive you”.

Next time we saw each other, he was late to pick me up 2 hours. I got furious, then desperate, then realised he has a self-esteem issues. He is not gonna be my husband after all. That broke my heart. He picked me up with his car, again, and we went to pick up some cakes for the party he was going to for the halloween. “We need to hurry, I have a makeup artist coming, to paint on my face.”

We were at his apartment again, I took of my shoes, he didn’t have to stare.

-“You want some cake”-“No, thank you, I am good.”

And then we waited, in silence, apparently after we met he was so disturbed by our meeting, he took some drugs and was catatonic for 4 days. His friends were taking care of him, but it was no need, he was just sitting on a couch, staring ahead. He is not my husband.

–“It was horrible.” -“The real question is: would you do it again.” – “Yeahh.”

The make up artist finally showed up. She entered, with her platform boots and her enormous amount of little suitcases, fool of makeup I would guess. And then it happened. He started staring.

– “Would you mind taking your shoes of?”

– “I would, actually.”

(It was similar to watching a western shoot down. I was very nervous. Real felt for the poor guy. Really admired the makeup artists bravery)

– “I have the shoes covers you can put on. There are in the corner.”

(And really, disposable shoe covers, like at the hospital, even the colour matched, blue, were in the box near the door.)

Make up artist took a pair, put them on her platform boots (that were really extra big looking with a extra amount of heel sole) and proceeded into the room. My boy was already sitting on a chair, ready, looking in front, calm, prepared to serve as a canvass. He looked so proud of himself and his makeup idea for the party. I was so proud of him and his disposable shoes cover box.

This was his house, and these were his rules. He did not break a sweat, he came/lived prepared.
