I’ve heard the other day on the wast lands of the internets that men do not like funny women. They are ok with it, but appreciate it much more if a woman laughs at their jokes than the other way around. I know, an information old as time. You can even call it chauvinistic in a way it perpetuates the old male/female patterns, when we all had more money and nuclear families, in this proclaimed capitalistic society, actually could survive on only one income. When women could work at home, in a literal sense of the word.

Side note: Nuclear families are also a modern construct, broadly promoted mid 20 century in the western societies.

I can’t help but think that every ‘freedom’ we won was providing just another means for the system to exploit us. I am not arguing slavery was good. I am not arguing patriarchy IS good, I just think those terms are more honest. Today someone can enforce a ‘Nazi’ way of doing things, but we cannot call it out, because some words are forbidden to be mentioned out loud. Talking about historicism, or simply watching the rewinding of a VCR tape.

I believe that men prefer when someone laughs at their jokes. I also enjoy when someone thinks I am funny. I think that a part of the reason why I am choosing to spend time with gloomy, moody, prone to addiction men, is that warm feeling when they smile. When I make them smile. When I see their little lips curling up, and their not anymore rosy checks starting to blush, I feel joy. The less they are prone to smiling the more I make it my quest to make them laugh. So, I get it, and I finally understand.

It is not my personality I am just a funny woman and every rejection is a compliment.

If you’ll excuse me, I have decided to Lay on Laurels for the rest of the day.
